65 Amps Stone Pony Amp & 2x12 cab

$3,050.00

Pleased to offer this 2009 65 Amps Stone Pony head and cabinet for sale.

The 65 Amps Stone Pony was available as a combo or head / cabinet format, and in two power levels – 25 and 50 watt versions. This model was introduced in 2008 until the company ceased operations around 2018.

This 65 Amps Stone Pony head is a 2009 model – the serial number (75H907054) expands as 75 (Stone Pony), H (Head, vs C for Combo) 9 for year (can only be 2009) 07 for July, 054 for production rank. While this amp was available in 25 and 50 watt versions, there are no external indicators but the 25 watt version has two 7591 power tubes and the 50 watt has four.

This example is in excellent, clean and all original condition, including the Celestion G12H30 and Celestion Alnico Blue speaker combination in the 2×12 cabinet.

The user manual for the 65 Amps Stone Pony can be read at this link.

Here’s the builder on the 65 Amps Stone Pony:

The 65 Amps Stone Pony enjoys the flexibility of our exclusive ‘Bump’ front end that employs an EF86 preamp tube feeding a 12AX7 phase inverter. We’ve adjusted the tone stack to accommodate the Stone Pony’s unique power tube, an unusual one called the 7591 that you’d find on old Ampegs from the ’60s. This unique tube has a very distinctive mid-range notch and excellent distortion characteristics, but also a nice, aggressive clean sound. It gets a really nice furry distortion reminiscent of the ’60s Stones and Faces.

We’ve optimized the transformers for the 7591’s with the guys at Mercury Magnetics and nailed the old 7591 format only with a much-enhanced vocabulary. With the six-way knob you can dial in anything from a nice pleasant crunchy rhythm sound all the way up to full on modern distortion. It’s a very dynamic tube that way. In addition, the tube reflects each guitar you’re playing extremely well, so that you hear and feel the distinct characteristics of your guitar.

We’re offering it in Low Power and Hi Power versions that are 25 and 50 Watts respectively. We’ve also put our “Master Voltage™” knob on it that will reduce the B+ voltage and output in the amp in an unique way that keeps the internal tube relationships perfect while keeping the filament voltage up. After seeing all other power schemes’ shortcomings, we’ve come at this from a different angle and we’re very pleased with the results. You can dial this amp down to 3 watts output without losing tone, feel, vocabulary, authority, etc. Introduced in 2008.
