1958 Gibson ES 335

One of the most sought after and rare Gibson electric guitars ever made, the ES-335 combined the tone of a thin-line hollow-body guitar with high powered pickups (PAFs) to change the game. This guitar is a late 1958, the first year of the ES-335, and features the thin top, sunburst finish, long pickguard and the same new powerful patent applied for humbucking pickups, as used on the Les Paul model since 1957. With the more rich chimey tone of a hollowbody but with the humbucker power, it became known as the Burst Killer.

This 58 might as well be a 59 Gibson es 335, built in the last week of December, 1958, features a bound neck. It has a lightly shaved ABR-1 (no wire) to compensate for the shallow neck angle but includes the sagging original low profile ABR-1. Everything else on this 1958 es-355 is original except the tuner tips and the frets. Original sealed PAFs. Thin top. There is a surface crack in the top ply on the back of the guitar, which is pretty common on 58's and thin top 59's. It is only the top ply of the plywood back. Condition is a solid 9. Includes original Stone case.
