We are pleased to present this original 1963 Gibson Les Paul aka Les Paul / SG for sale. This clean vintage Gibson represents the transition to the SG body style in 1961 and this ‘63 was one of the last of the Les Paul guitars Gibson would make until 1968.
This guitar is armed with one original PAF and one original Patent Number pickup that sound great. The tonal spectrum and combinations are noticeably broader to my ear, evoking a fierce bite or a dark moody tone that covers much ground for any guitarist. They have been potted (no more squealing) and that is reflected in the price and what makes this vintage guitar a killer find.
The neck is the wider but comfortable neck, which is straight and no neck or heel joint repairs. It has been refretted which greatly improved playability, as this was regularly played as all great guitars usually are. The side Vibrato tailpiece has been serviced and maintained and is stable and holds intonation well. The bridge has been replaced.
The guitar is a little heavier than many later SGs with great resonance helping this guitar’s ability to cut through the mix in live situations. The rich cherry finish is beautiful with the perfect amount of weather checking. It does not get any better than this.
