For many Les Paul players, the legendary Alpine White Les Paul Custom was largely made famous by the late Randy Rhoads of Quiet Riot and Ozzy Osborne. His legend has inspired many to play the Alpine White Les Paul Custom but he had company in several of the greatest guitarists choosing the white Les Paul Custom, including Lindsey Buckingham of Fleetwood Mac and Les Paul himself.

This guitar delivers a warm shimmering tone with a crunchy bridge pickup creating fantastic sounding guitar. Even Les Paul himself favored an Alpine White Beauty, as shown on the cover of his autobiography “Les Paul: In His Own Words.”

The original Gibson Les Paul Custom came only in black and became known as the Black Beauty. I find that the Alpine White exhibits that formal “black tie” contrast to the classic Black Beauty that just looks angelic. At only 9 lbs, it feels surprisingly light for a Les Paul Custom.

If you’re making the move to playing Les Paul Customs, you must have the three essential finishes: Alpine White, Black and Wine Red. Don’t get me wrong, I love a cool sunburst Gibson Les Paul Custom but the essential three colors are a must and Alpine White get noticed on stage for sure.

Made with all the care and extra attention given to the Gibson Custom Shop builds and the low smooth action just delivers that near fretless wonder feel. Sounds great with the 490R/498T pickup combo.

All the gold hardware is in excellent shape with some body wear near the bridge pickup. There a few areas of slight body discoloration near the bridge pickup and lower top of the body, not visible when playing. This has been reflected in the price and in person you will see it’s not that visible; it’s difficult to photograph white guitars.
